Daniel Fitzpatrick has strong quantitative and qualitatiave research and analysis skills that help clients get a deeper understanding of their public policy issues. He is an effective facilitator of workgroups, ensuring that objectives are achieved and deadlines are met.

Education:

Master's degree in public policy, bachelor's degree in international relations, and bachelor's degree in political theory and constitutional democracy from Michigan State University.

Also notable: Mr. Fitzpatrick was one of 14 entering freshman awarded Alumni Distinguished Scholarships at Michigan State University in 2003.

Mr. Fitzpatrick plays key roles in a number of projects, including the Michigan Campaign to End Homelessness, an evaluation of W.K. Kellogg Foundation grants, and the analysis of juvenile justice data. His work with the Campaign to End Homelessness has included facilitating the activities of the Community Building and Communications workgroup.

He has worked on developing the evaluation design for assessing the impact of the Kellogg Foundation's investments in Michigan, including methods for evaluating grants with a racial equity lens. He is now working on implementation of the evaluation.

Mr. Fitzpatrick established a juvenile justice database for the State of Michigan and is conducting analyses to determine the presence and extent of unequal treatment of minority youth when they come into contact with the juvenile justice system. He also worked to develop an interactive tool to enable researchers and others interested in juvenile justice to view, analyze, and present the data.

Mr. Fitzpatrick also provided technical assistance to workforce investment boards and education and training providers registering with Michigan's Career Education Consumer Report, a statewide information system required by the Workforce Investment Act and developed by PPA for the State of Michigan.

Mr. Fitzpatrick conducted extensive qualitative analysis of survey and focus group data for use in a statewide analysis of Michigan's health care workforce for the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth.  Previously, he worked on the Michigan Child Welfare Improvement Task Force, an initiative of the Michigan Department of Human Services to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and Michigan.

Prior to joining PPA, Mr. Fitzpatrick held several research aide positions at Michigan State University.  He also worked as a professorial assistant.
