Mark Simmer is responsible for installing, supporting, and maintaining servers and other computer systems and applications. He plans and implements systems-related projects, consults with PPA staff, and performs network audits to create network documentation for PPA clients.
Studied computer science at the University of Hawaii and completed advanced electronic classes at Lansing Community College. He has earned the following certifications: advanced electronics, operations development program, MCSE NT v4, AS400 operations, CNE NetWare v5, Watchguard, Microsoft Server 2012, Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012, Microsoft Windows 7/8 and Microsoft Certified Professional.
He also established network standards and documentation, and developed the corporate IT policy. He provides training and support to the PPA staff. He provides technology assistance for the Madeira Networks, Michigan Recycling Coalition, the Michigan Environmental Council, the Michigan Humanities Council, and Davis Capitol.
Prior to joining PPA, Mr. Simmer worked as a senior systems engineer for Pardee Network Solutions/Velocity Information Technology Services where he helped implement the data center, started managed services, planned and implemented network rollouts. He has also worked as president/senior systems engineer for MJS Networking Services, Inc., a computer network design and repair company.
Mr. Simmer served in the United States Navy for six years. While stationed in Hawaii, he studied computer science at the University of Hawaii.
